Robert Legan Duke

Not too long ago, I received a message on Ancestry from someone who had military medals of a relative in my tree. She wanted to make sure that these medals went to someone who would honor and cherish them. I am so happy she contacted me. Here is the story of Robert Legan Duke.
Robert was born September 19th, 1913 in Chickasaw, Mississippi to Robert Oneal Duke and Beatrice Brand Duke. He had two sisters, Helen Oneal and Sadie Ella. Robert married Preshia Ruth Holloman sometime before 1950. He enlisted in the National Guard in November 1940 and served in Field Artillery serving throughout World War II.  Robert also re-enlisted in 1946 as a Staff Sergeant in the Air Corps. Robert continued to serve through the Korean Conflict and retired in 1968.
