Researching African Ancestry
As a predominantly southern family tree, it stands to reason that there would be many types of families within the research that I have done. Recently I began extracting names of the enslaved that were mentioned in wills, estates, and records of those slaveholders in my family tree. As a serious researcher, I not only want my family names remembered, but all those who intersected their lives as well. One way to help, is to make those names available for others. I hope that as I continue to build this database, that if I've helped even one person to find their enslaved ancestors, that it was well worth the effort.
