Lucius Bass was living with his parents Lucius and Lucy in Tacoma, Pierce, Washington on North Tacoma Avenue. He is listed as having been born in August of 1894 in Washington and is 5 years old. Lucius (father) is listed as being born in July 1863 in New York. His father having been born in New York and mother unknown where she was born and is 36 years old having been married 12 years. He is employed in the Banking industry. He owns their House Free and Clear. Lucy is listed as having been born in May of 1869 in Missouri, her father and mother's place of births are unknown. [It is likely census taker did not ask as the mother is enumerated with the family]. Living with them is Maggie Ellis, a white servant age 73 having been born in October of 1826, born in Canada/Eng. Also enumerated with them is Henrietta C Bass, mother, who is 55 years old having been born in November of 1844. She is widowed and the mother of 4 children, 4 living; Born in Virginia her father was born in Connecticut and mother born in Massachusetts.

According to the Yale Herald Volume LIV number 9, New Haven, Conn. Friday, Nov 9, 2012: PAGE 24; Lucius Bass Manning is on the "Veteran's Day Ceremony at Beinecke Plaza" with a note that says the names above are engraved on the walls of Woolsey Hall of Yale students and faculty who died in service to their country.

Seattle, Washington - Lucius R Manning shoots himself with a revolver at his office, supposedly because of financial issues.

Lucius B Manning was 15 years old living with his parents Lucius R. age 52 and Lucy B. Manning age 42in Tacoma, Pierce, Washington. Lucius R was employed as an agent in the Real Estate Business. Also living with them was Henrietta C Bass age 65. Also living with them in the household is Selina Reesberg a servant age 30 born in Sweden who immigrated in 1905, and Sata Seshirke a servant age 23 born in Japan who immigrated in 1907.

1917 Engagement:
The Chicago Tribune 22 July 1917 announcement: "Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pratt Whitney of Evanston announce the engagement of their daughter, Katherine Fay, to Lucius Manning of Seattle, Wash."

Present Occupation: Stock Broker for Logan & Bryan, Smith Building, Seattle, Washington. He lists no dependents. Single. Says he was enlisted in Naval Coast Defense Reserve. Submarine Chaser [???], Seattle, Washington. He is Tall, Medium build with Light blue eyes and light brown hair. Dated 5 June 1917.

Meredith (dau) was 7 years old, born in Illinois. Katherine (dau) was 3 years old, born in Illinois. Living with them were the following Servants:
Paula Kattwinkle age 45. She was German and immigrated in 1912 listing Alabama as her naturalization state. Her occupation is Nurse.[ This would lead me to believe she was acting as the caregiver for the children.]
T R Williams age 26. a black man born in Kentucky.
Josie Williams age 25 a black woman born in Georgia.
