My way - well, because it's Monday and no one likes a Monday..... Weekends are great for me. I only say that because while I'm generally busy with the kids and family and stuff, when it's over, I get to check my email and I almost always have someone writing me to ask about a family connection or to share something they found.
Last week, I had sent a message to a woman on one of my favorite resources - FindAGrave.com. Her name was Duke, and she had quite a few stones and information on my Duke line. So I wrote her and requested some info be added to one of the family names, and left my email for her. She wrote to me and I am so excited to have made the connection. Let me just tell you something about me. I dislike the phone. I generally do not offer random notes to people I don't know and it takes quite a bit for me to open up at first. But with genealogy, I find that I am more willing to message random people than I am to step out my front door and talk to the neighbor. Is that not the silliest thing you've ever heard? hahaha... well, it is what it is. Back to my story - so she sent me a message telling me about a near Family reunion coming up and we are sharing information. A Reunion. I've never gone to one before. We just were never around for them. I know people have them, but it's a foreign concept to me. While it's still quite a distance from where I live now, and it's not much time to save up to go, I really wish I could make it to one and learn so much about what I'm researching and who I'm researching. I would truly love that. Ohhh to have the ability and money!! Anyway - Welcome back from your weekend. I hope your

You already know my interest in the DUKE family so I wish you could go too. I have been to two National Worrell Family reunions and they were great. I dislike the phone also and after I had started doing genealogies I knew I had to do something to get myself away from my addiction and out of the house so I volunteered to take tombstone photos at nearby cemeteries. Have not been out for a while to "taphophile" but hope to get healthy enough to take that up again soon.
