Ahhh.. Thanksgiving! It is the time of year where we all take a step back to spend time with the family, cooking home made meals with all the fixins and enjoying the season. We give thanks and say our blessings, too. I'm very thankful this year and extremely blessed!
Then it all begins.... ...the shopping, the hassles, the wrapping, the rigging of the Christmas lights, the late nights and all the decorations, the cooking, the travelling to and fro, the disappointments, the family fights, the stress of the holidays and the returns of unwanted or over sized items..... As you prepare yourself for what lies ahead, take a moment or two to remember the past. Think about maybe some of the acts of kindness that you may have been around to see or do. Remember the donation you put in the red bucket? Remember the little man who let you go in front of him in line? Remember the kind words the lady in front of you said about your well behaved child? What about the random smile of a stranger? When you are out there, running here and there, pay it forward. Even the smallest of things can mean the world to someone without you knowing it. Grab an angel from the donation tree, put those extra cents in to the kettle, volunteer more than you would normally, cook a meal for an elderly neighbor, donate a jacket or a blanket to a shelter. We are all struggling, but a small thing is a wonder to someone without. One can of food can be the difference between hunger and starvation. Happy Thanksgiving - May your holidays be blessed with Peace, Love and Happiness! (and fabulous Adventures in Genealogy, too!)
